The Making of a Musical: Part 3

Just a quick post this time!  We are like, 2 weeks out from show time and to say everyone involved in the show is scurrying about oh so busily to get everything finished and put together is an understatement.  If you pay a visit to the VPAC (Versailles Performing Arts Center) you'd find yourself a true mad house.  The students are rehearsing, the set crew is bringing everything to the stage, the costume moms are sewing, fitting, and ironing, the light crew is learning their cues, stage crew is delegating responsibilities to make sure scene transitions happen smoothly, "publicity" people are selling tickets like hot cakes, and the directors are making a list and checking it twice to make sure nothing has been forgotten.  Oh, and today we got a little visit from ZFX!!!  They are the company running the flying for the show.  The kids are getting their first taste of flight as we speak.  Exciting, exciting, exciting!!!

Here are a few action shots from recent rehearsals to wet your whistle until I have a chance to post a "flying" update soon!

Enjoy!!

Celebrating the soon arrival of a special little boy...

Our family is preparing to welcome another baby in the very near future.  My cousin, Bert, and his wife Jamie, are preparing to welcome their first baby together in May.  So, Bert's sisters and mom threw a great shower for Jamie and baby boy Roeth.  I love getting together with family, if I haven't already expressed that enough in the past, so any excuse to do so is good enough for me and celebrating the impending arrival of a new family member is a pretty awesome reason!

Cherie, Lynnette, Deana, and Cheryl did a great job on the shower and a good time was had by all.  I cannot wait to meet the newest little addition and I know Bert and Jamie are going to be wonderful parents--such a lucky little boy to have them for a mom and dad!

"Someone special, Someone dear, Baby Roeth is almost here!"

An adorable diaper cake...

Lynnette explaining the game she made us all play....it was actually pretty funny!

Bottle chugging...

Baby dressing...

Diaper changing....

Pacifier dropping...

Mom-to-be ready to get the show on the road!

 Baby Roeth did well!

 Getting there...looking good, Jamie!

Little boy Roeth already has lots of love and people eagerly awaiting his arrival.  May will be here soon!!

50 Never Looked So Good!

My dearest Aunt Heidi is celebrating a milestone birthday this week.  She is turning 50!  I used to consider everything over 30 old...but now as I approach 30 (gasp!) my perception of old has changed dramatically.  Heidi has always seemed so young to me--and she still does.  There is nothing "old" about her.  She's as spritely and spry as she has ever been, and I don't anticipate that changing any time soon--and hope it never does!

We got together, as usual, at Nanny's to celebrate with pizza, again, as usual, and cake from Jungle Jim's.  One of the things I love about my family is that when it comes to special days--we just want to spend them with the ones we love most, and that's just what we did!

The birthday girl!

Make a wish and blow!

Max showing Uncle Mark how to play Minion Rush...

...promptly followed by "rides"

Double the fun--or work in Mark's case!

Such a little sweet girl!

Susan, Amelia, Heidi, Mom, Linds, and Sophie...pretty sure something started to smell "funky" at this point.

Butt-sniffing to locate the source!

We tried really hard to get both babies to smile at the same time....in vain.

#1
The part of this picture you don't see is 5 adult women with camera phones trying to get both Sophie and Amelia to smile with our ridiculous baby talk, absurd noises, and aggressive smiles--I wouldn't have smiled either.  I'd think I was surrounded by creeps!

#2
Amelia just not quite sure...Sophie's expression unchanged.

#3
Sophie--unbreakable.  Amelia--starting to give in.

#4
There's one!
50% will have to do!

Me and my babes--together they take up every inch of my lap and then some.  This means they are growing way WAY too fast :(

Happy 50th, Heidi!!  I couldn't be more thankful for an aunt like you!  May the next 50 be just as fun and spunky as the first 50!
